Occult Ornithology is a 24 card majors only tarot deck originally funded through Kickstarter. The deck includes 24 beautifully illustrated cards, each based on the 1910 Raider- Waite deck (22 cards, plus 2 bonus cards for alternative Justice and Strength cards for those who prefer the traditional numerology). The cards all have beautiful high quality gold foiling on the front and back of the cards as well as high quality gold edging. The cards are printed onto casino quality black core card stock which gives them a beautiful finish and makes for really easy shuffling.

Why birds? Folktales, feelings and archetypes have been associated with many species of birds across every culture since spoken word. The various associations we make with many species and mythologies surrounding them make them a perfect fit for the tarot. On top of this, the rich biodiversity of birds as well as our own unique feelings surrounding various species lend themselves well to both structured reading of the cards and allow for the personal interpretation of the reader allowing for a rich deck.

The cards come presented beautifully in a gold foiled book box, keeping them safe and easy to store/ transport. It also includes a link to the free tarot guide book in PDF form inside the box, making this deck easily accessible to beginners or those who want to learn about basic tarot trump cards.

The book is a fully illustrated guide to use alongside the cards. It is 52 pages in length and details each card, it’s meanings and information about each bird. The guide is beautifully printed onto glossy paper and perfect bound with a Matt finish, the cover is embellished with gold foil making it a beautiful companion with the cards.
