Wheel of the year poster, wicca, pagan calendar poster, home decor print, foiled
The Wheel of the Year is an annual cycle of seasonal festivals, observed by many modern Pagans, consisting of the year’s chief solar events (solstices and equinoxes) and the midpoints between them. While names for each festival vary among diverse pagan traditions, syncretic treatments often refer to the four solar events as “quarter days” and the four midpoint events as “cross-quarter days”, particularly in Wicca. Differing sects of modern Paganism also vary regarding the precise timing of each celebration, based on distinctions such as lunar phase and geographic hemisphere.

Schnabelperchten -Austrian Christmas Folklore – Teal/ Turquoise – Limited Edition Lino Print
“Garrrr Garrr!”
Alongside traditional Alpine Christmas figures such as St Nicholas and the Krampus, there are groups of other figures who come out around the festive season, and this figure focusses on punishing naughty or lazy little girls.
These figures come under the umbrella term “Perchta”, and this design is specifically based on the Austrian variety, the Schnabelperchten. Like the Krampus, she may wear a basket to carry off badly behaved little girls, her scissors are for at the very least threatening to disembowel her quarry, and in the extreme, their use, filling their subject with sawdust and sewing them up.

Sphynx Cat Geometric Goddess Occult LinoPrint in Turquoise/Teal and Gold
It’s been a while since I made a design especially for me as I had a few commissions on, and after a bit of searching through some motifs in the brain storage, I designed this piece. Using alchemical motifs, and lunar goddess imagery and originating as a line drawing, I carved this design onto a lino block and will be working with a few colour schemes, I will also make Turquoise/teal with gold outer halo, turquoise/teal mono, black and gold, black mono, red and gold and full colour. PLEASE NOTE: I am currently pretty much printing to order so there maybe a week in production before posting.

The Patron Saint of Brave Faces – Lino Print
During Lockdown I was working in two keyworker jobs which I am still doing. A lot of art has been created by those who were effected by lockdown on the inside of their house, but this was created from the outside point of view, observing those who were only allowed out for essentials and not allowed out at all, but also seeing others who had little care for lockdown at all.
Sometimes in these testing times we put a smile on and find ways of navigating these days even when it’s not how one openly feels, and this is what this Saint/Angel is created for, for those days when it feels like a struggle. I’ve not named her by any particular name, I don’t actually know if any similar exists but now she does in a time when maybe people need her in particularly appreciate the spiritual and sarcasm.

Krampus Head in Black and White – Limited Edition – Linoprint
Season beatings! Gruß vom Krampus!
Alpine folklore brings us Krampus, the friend of St Nicholas, and whilst St Nicholas rewards the good little boys and girls at Christmas time, Krampus punishes them, either by thrashing them with branches or carrying them off in a potato sack or a basket on his back. The Harbourside Bucca – Cornish Spirit – Limited Edition Lino Print
Based in Cornwall in the darker time of the year, with glimmers of light in the form of the village fairy lights, illuminated lighthouse, starlight and full moon, we quake in our boots at the howling and whooping of the local buccas, (Cornish devils or earth spirits) whose calls can be heard in certain coves and areas of villages on particularly stormy nights. The scene is also illuminated with a gigantic pair of glowing eyes and moonlit details including large fangs. However, he may well be harmless and a spirit who watches over fishermen, who would often leave offerings of fish in a designated area for the bucca. Based on an amalgamation of stories from the Newlun area and places with “bucca” in the place name”.

The Sinner’s Procession – Original Limited Edition Lino Print – Black and White
Inspired by the strange demons that appear in Bosche’s paintings and the margins of illuminated manuscript, this is a party procession for a newly arrived sinner, who screams in horror at his new abode in the afterlife. The Pall bearers are a mishmash of creatures, who celebrate his arrival with much noise and false pomp.

Here Be Monsters – Limited Edition – Hand printed & painted Linoprint
Inspired from reading some of the historical newspaper stories that can be found in The Pine Barren Institute’s “Monsters in Print” compiled by Adam Benedict, my psyche was visited by this Giant Sea Lady, gorging herself on boats and ships, crunching through bows and sterns on moonlit nights. Here Be Monsters!

Bit warm up here on the planes of Earth isn’t it?
I just can’t seem to depict the more popular images of beaches, fishing boats, and the refreshing sea, so I’ve got a devil firing a sinner into the inferno from a cannon, using his own unholy farts to light the fuse.

September’s End – Limited Edition – Lino print Original
Legend has it that when Michael cast the Devil out of Heaven, he landed backside first into a blackberry bush. This incident is the root of the superstition that Blackberries should be plucked and eaten before the 29th September (known as Michaelmas) as any left hanging from the thorny stems following this date are defiled by the Devil in the form of him spitting upon the, placing his foot on them or in this case by passing water over them, in memorial rage at his sore landing.

La Bruja – Black and White – Limited Edition – Witch Lino print
Inspired by historical imagery of witches and demons frolicking together, with illuminated manuscripts as another source of inspiration, I also like modern captures of unusual things caught on film, whether real or not or hereby unexplained, a video of something that looks like a stereotypically historical depiction of a witch caught my imagination and spurred on this image. As this video referred to what was captured in Spanish, “La Bruja”, I kept the title.
Also available in full colour.
