Shrine inspired by The Day Of the Dead, soldered glass with glittered skull

Category: Tags: , , ,

This is a unique Day of the Dead inspired alter, ideal for decoration in your home this Halloween or all year round.
Day of the Dead shrines are usually more colourful but I have kept this quite plain more in keeping with the UK Gothic look, using glass and silver coloured, lead free solder. Some parts I have kept silver, others I have added a patina to make some silver parts mottled black. Also, you can add your own LED fairy lights around it or stick any embellishments you have to it.
I have even included a highly decorative skull which you can keep in or take out and replace with your own items. I have covered the skull with ab glitter.
The overall piece measures 22cm from bottom to the top of the glass rays added to the back.
The stem is made from a faceted recycled glass, the facets make me think of a spider web. On top is a glass frame which I have soldered together, for added drama I have soldered on 3 faceted recycled cut glass pieces to the back, in a fan shape.
To cover workings I have placed a circle of silver foil to the inside of the main shrine.
Due to the stem being made from a glass you can add a BATTERY operated tea light to it(included) making it light up in the day and looks very eerie in the dark.

I can usually post the next day.
Packaging will be recycled.
